India Organic 2006 Trade Fair and Congress will be the event of the year for the Organic sector in India. After the overwhelming response in 2005, India Organic is being organised for the second time by ICCOA, International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture. India Organic 2006 Congress
The high level 3 day India Organic Congress accompanying India Organic Fair builds a unique platform to present developments, achievements, trends and research results of the organic sector and to discuss up to date in-branch topics. National and international stakeholders are invited to submit abstracts/topics/proposals for presentations of general interest for the organic industry. Any such proposals are highly appreciated. The India Organic Congress programme includes

India Organic 2006 Congress target groups
Farmers, input suppliers, traders, entrepreneurs eager to enter into organic trade or to source products. Executives of food ingredient companies, retailers, supermarkets, exporters of organic products from all over the country, importers of organic products from abroad, out of home consumption (canteens, hotels, Chefs); authorities, administrative, buyers and producers of raw materials from cosmetic, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries, financial institutions; consumer opinion makers.

Congress language
English (selected presentations will be translated simultaneously from English in Hindi and Kannada)

Congress schedule and programme
The Congress schedule is divided into 90min and 60min slots. Those interested to submit papers (abstracts) are invited to either submit proposals for single presentations or for arranging a whole slot in which up to three speakers and a moderator can highlight a topic from various perspectives. See the following examples to structure the slots (10 min at the end of each slot are always reserved for clearing the room):

Congress organisers ask for proposals of high and general interest for the organic industry. Proposals may include innovative approaches or novelties and well introduced working concepts. Exemplary success stories that can serve as model or good learning experiences for other stakeholders are highly appreciated.

Please categorize your proposals according to the following topic areas
  1. Organic Policy: Promotion of organic, education programmes, models to raise consumer awareness, state support initiatives to foster organic etc.
  2. Production (“farmers congress”): various production systems, organic inputs and crop protection systems, wild collection, Medicinal, Aromatic & Dye plants, post harvest processing (storage, handling, packaging, transport), raw material production for various processing purposes (food, body care, therapeutically products).
  3. Markets/ market development (domestic, international): consumer, marketing concepts, out of home consumption, different retail structures from direct marketing to supermarkets
  4. Public and Private Quality systems (inspection, certification including accreditation): ICS, internal control systems, alternative ways of conformity assessment (e.g. PGS, Participatory Guarantee Systems); HACCP, IFS and other Quality systems
  5. Finance and Investment
  6. Other topics not yet covered by above mentioned topic areas
  7. COS promotion (Company, Organisation, State promotion), see separate format for registration form

Call for Papers
Organisers will select abstracts of high and general interest for the organic industry. Submitted papers must include:
  • Concise and informative title preferably of one line (Times New Roman 12 pt.)
  • Plus abstract; the abstract should not exceed 80-120 words (please briefly emphasize content and objectives of the presentation)
  • Plus name and address (incl. e-mail address) of moderator (if relevant) and selected presenters.

Schedule
- 03/08/06 deadline for abstract submission
- 15/08/06 publication of the preliminary congress programme
- Notification of acceptance/rejection beginning of September
- October 06 publication of the final programme including abstracts

Note to speakers
Those who submit abstracts will be notified of acceptance or rejection beginning of September. Accepted abstracts will be published in the internet as part of the detailed Congress programme; please take care that the instructions for submitting papers are followed (see above). The speakers will be our invited guests and will get free access to the Congress and the Fair, opening, congress/fair dinner and local hospitality. However, travelling costs will not be covered by the organiser. Congress secretariat is organising a special tour of leading and progressive organic farms of Karnataka.
